STUDY ABROAD PROGRAMS
Potsdam/Berlin:
Justice, Dispute Resolution and Human Rights

This study abroad program provides students with the opportunity to explore
issues in the areas of alternative dispute resolution, comparative law and
justice, and international human rights law. Courses like Nuremberg,
International Law & Human Rights, and tours through Stassi (East German) prison
and a German concentration camp, allow students to better understand how
conflicts and gross mistreatment of individuals and groups arise and develop.
Students will learn about how lawyers and the legal system can protect these
individuals, promote justice and work towards preventing and resolving disputes
in a peaceful way.

During this study abroad program (the only ABA-approved summer program in
India), students will explore the region by studying a rich panoply of legal,
cultural and human rights issues. Eleven days will be spent in Dharamsala, the
seat of the Tibetan Government-in-Exile, where students will enjoy cultural
events designed to enhance our understanding and appreciation of Tibetan law,
religion, and society. Courses in this program include International Human
Rights, Comparative Studies of Gender & Race, Indian and Tibetan Law and
Philosophy, and International Criminal Law.

The China Experience study abroad program offers a wide variety of
opportunities for students to learn about international human rights issues.
Sociology of Law gives students a full historical, political, and social
context for Chinese Law, and how that law is used to maintain social control
and promote social change. Students in International Dispute Resolution and
International Human Rights Law will study the practice of resolving
international disputes, as well as the U.N. Charter and the Universal
Declaration of Human Rights. Chinese Law and International Environmental Law
courses will provide information about current policy issues facing China.
Russia:
Legal System in Transition
Touro Law Center, with Loyola University New Orleans School of Law, in
cooperation with the Law School of Moscow State University (MSU), is proud to
sponsor an exciting three-week summer law program in Moscow, Russia. The
program will provide law students with the opportunity to study law in a
country whose legal, economic, social, and cultural foundations are undergoing
an historic transition. The fate of this important country depends in large
part on the strength and reformation of its legal institutions and law.
