Diversity Plan

The Touro Law Center’s mission, consistent with Jewish tradition, has long been to provide a diverse student body with a rigorous, innovative, and immersive path towards becoming practice-ready professionals committed to promoting social justice and serving the needs of their clients and communities with compassion, integrity, and competence.

The Touro College Jacob D. Fuchsberg Law Center is committed to diversity and working to create a welcoming environment for students, faculty, and staff. We are committed to increasing diversity, in myriad forms, including but not limited to race and ethnicity, gender, gender identity, gender expression, sexual orientation, religion, socioeconomic background, language, culture, national origin, intellectual diversity, and (dis)ability status. We are committed to pursuing deliberate efforts to ensure that our campus is a place where differences are welcomed, different perspectives are respectfully heard, and every individual feels a sense of belonging and inclusion. We know that by building a critical mass of diverse groups on campus and creating an engaging climate of inclusiveness, we can more effectively leverage the resources of diversity to advance our collective capabilities.

The aim of the Diversity Plan is to further develop diversity at the Law Center by setting goals and standards that are assigned to specific departments and groups within the institution. The plan also outlines and requires periodic assessment to ensure goal attainment. The plan will be reviewed on a periodic basis to allow the Law Center to be responsive to changes in the environment and updated needs. The plan allows for reflection on the Law Center environment and reflection on the challenges facing the Law Center.
