Fall On-Campus Interview (OCI) Program

Beginning before fall classes start and continuing throughout the semester, the Fall On-Campus Interview (OCI) program provides students with an excellent opportunity to secure a position early in the school year.

The Fall OCI Program is primarily geared to large employers – major law firms, District Attorney Offices, and large federal, state and local government employers – who can plan their hiring needs well in advance.

Only a small percentage of employers participate in a law school's on-campus interview program. Most students will obtain their summer and permanent positions through other means, such as, during the spring recruiting season, part-time jobs, internships, externships, and judicial clerkships.

Career Fairs

There also are several important career fairs during the year where prospective employers interview candidates for either summer or post-graduate employment.

  • New York University Public Interest Legal Career Fair, held each February at NYU. Hundreds of employers from civil rights organizations, public interest advocates, government agencies, legal services offices and numerous other representatives of the public interest law community attend each year. Candidates are interviewed for both summer and post-graduate employment.
  • Northeast BLSA Job Fair., a regional fair that takes place each fall, coordinated by the Black Law Students Association. The job fair is designed to present various summer employment opportunities in either the private or public sector. Although the job fair is held in the early fall, registration takes place in the spring. 
  • Patent Law Interview Program, hosted each year in early August by Loyola University Chicago School of Law. This program gives qualified law student from across the country the opportunity to interview with over 150 patent law firms, as well as law firms, corporations, and government agencies with patent law departments. Students with an undergraduate or graduate degree in engineering or a technical science may want to consider attending. Registration is early, usually in February of each year.
