Historic First & Second Place Finish for Touro Law Teams at Nassau County Moot Court Competition
For the first time in the school’s history, Touro Law’s Moot Court teams placed both first and second in the Nassau County Bar Association Moot Court Competition. The competition included teams from Touro Law, St. John’s University School of Law and Maurice A. Deane School of Law at Hofstra University.
“I am so pleased with the outcome of this competition,” stated Associate Dean Myra Berman, who serves as faculty advisor for Moot Court. “These students worked exceptionally hard to prepare for the competition, and their performance was admirable.”
Assistant Professor John R. Quinn, faculty advisor for the second-place team, commented, "This year's competition presented especially challenging questions involving qualified immunity and the Confrontation Clause. The law school community should be proud of their hard work and achievement.”
Congratulations to all, including winning team members Jessica Sullivan and Ceili Howland, and their coach Meghan Cogan, and second place team members Morgan Rubel, Allie Troiano, and their coach Matthew Cohen. Jessica Sullivan was also awarded Best Oralist of the competition. Special thanks to faculty coaches and advisors who helped prepare the teams for competition including Associate Dean for Experiential Learning and Special Programs and Associate Professor of Law Dean Myra Berman, Distinguished Jurist in Residence Hon. Mark Cohen, and Assistant Professor John R. Quinn.
