Suffolk County Women’s Bar Association to Honor Dean Salkin

The Suffolk County Women’s Bar Association is hosting an event to welcome Touro Law Center’s new Dean Patricia Salkin. A two-hour cocktail reception will take place at the Windwatch Golf and Country Club (1715 Motor Parkway, Hauppauge) at 6:30 pm on Wednesday, October 24, 2012. Former Dean Lawrence Raful will also be recognized for his leadership at Touro Law and his support of the Suffolk County Women’s Bar.

Dean Salkin began her tenure at Touro Law on August 1, 2012 and is the school’s fifth dean and the first woman to hold the position. Previously she worked at Albany Law School for 22 years serving s Associate Dean and Director of the Government Law Center. She is the author of the definitive treatise New York Zoning Law and Practice, on which all zoning and planning practitioners rely. She has served on the transition teams for attorneys general-elect Eric Schneiderman, Andrew Cuomo and Eliot Spitzer.

The Suffolk County Women’s Bar Association, a chapter of the Women’s Bar Association of the State of New York, is presided over by Nicole Zuvich, Esq. and was established in 1984.

Touro College Jacob D. Fuchsberg Law Center is located in Suffolk County. The school was established in 1980 as part of Touro College. In 2007, the law school moved to its current Central Islip location adjacent to and working with a federal courthouse and a state courthouse. It is the first law campus of its kind in the country, and the curriculum addresses all aspects of law in today’s changing world while capitalizing on the proximity to the courthouses.
