Money Will Be Used to Support Touro Law Center’s Veterans’ and Servicemembers’ Rights Clinic

October 16, 2013

On Friday, October 11, 2013 at the Northport VA Medical Center, Touro Law Center’s Veterans’ and Servicemembers’ Rights Clinic received a $5,000 grant from David Goldring, the Chairman and CEO of Overseas Military Sales Corporation (OMSC) on behalf of its sales team.

“We are thankful to David and the Overseas Military Sales Corporation for their support of Touro Law’s work with veterans,” said Patricia Salkin, Touro Law Center Dean. “This clinic is truly a great asset in the community and a great opportunity for our students to get hands-on training while assisting veterans.”

Touro Law will use the grant to fund a summer fellowship to assure that the clinic will continue to address the critical needs of local veterans, servicemembers and their families during the break between academic years.  OMSC is the world's leading marketer of automobiles to the U.S. military, diplomatic, Foreign Service and international business communities outside the United States.

“Touro Law's Veterans' and Servicemembers' Rights Clinic is another example of Touro Law's long and distinguished record of advocating for those in need,” said John Cooney, Touro Lawclass of 2008, an associate at Ruskin Moscou Faltischek and Treasurer of Northport Post of the American Legion, who arranged for the grant. “As a United States Marine Corps veteran and Touro Law alumnus, it is my distinct honor to help facilitate support for the Clinic and its mission to lessen the burden for those that have served us.”
