The Tom and Cynthia Rosicki Disability Fund Created with $150,000 Gift

October 31, 2013

Touro Law Center Dean Patricia Salkin is pleased to announce that Touro Law alum Tom Rosicki ’97 and his wife Cynthia have pledged $150,000 to create the Tom and Cynthia Rosicki Disability Fund. The fund will support scholarships and support for accommodations necessary for students with special needs at the law school.

“Touro Law is a school that welcomes all students based on their abilities, which at times can mean that we must provide necessary accommodations to ensure students have the opportunity to be successful. The leadership support of the Rosicki’s to establish this fund is the first-of-its kind for Touro Law and perhaps across the country,” said Dean Salkin. “The Rosicki’s have long been champions of people with disabilities. This generous donation will have a significant impact on the lives of many Touro Law students for years to come. We are grateful for their continued leadership and generosity.”

Tom Rosicki and his wife Cynthia are the Founding Principals of Rosicki, Rosicki & Associates, Attorneys at Law, a leading mortgage banking real estate law firm, with main offices located in Plainview New York. Their firm has five offices throughout New York State and employs over 350 attorneys and paralegals.

Rosicki, Rosicki & Associates received the New York State Rehabilitation Association Business Industry award for 2004, and numerous disability employment awards from the New York State Senate and Assembly, AHRC, The Rehabilitation Institute, the U.S. Congress, and Abilities Inc., for their employment of people with disabilities. Tom also received National Disability Employment Awareness Month’s disabled advocate of the year award for 2005. Over 24% of the firm’s employees were recruited from organizations assisting people with disabilities. In 2007 Tom was the recipient of the David Award, presented by Networking Magazine to individuals who make contributions to the greater good in the spirit of giving. In November 2008, Tom received Touro Law School’s “With Liberty and Justice for All” award for his work ensuring equal opportunity for with people with disabilities.

Tom currently serves on the Board of Governors of Touro Law Center, as Board Member and Past President of AHRC Nassau, on the business advisory board of The Rehabilitation Institute. Nine years ago, Tom & Cynthia initiated and hosts an annual fundraiser for “Hunter’s Hope” in Buffalo New York. Hunter’s Hope is a foundation begun by Pro Football Hall of Fame Quarterback Jim Kelly and his wife Jill, benefiting children born with Krabbe’s disease.
