New York State Attorney General Eric Schneiderman to Deliver Commencement Address

Dean Patricia Salkin is pleased to announce that New York State Attorney General Eric Schneiderman will deliver the commencement address at Touro Law Center’s 32nd Annual Commencement Exercises to be held on May 25, 2014 at 12:00 Noon at the Tilles Center for the Performing Arts in Brookville, NY.

“We are honored that the Attorney General, who has been at the forefront of using the law the do the public good, has agreed to join us for our commencement ceremony,” said Dean Salkin. “The class of 2014 is a dedicated group of students of whom I am extremely proud, and the graduates are looking forward to the inspirational message we expect the Attorney General to share as a part of their memorable day.”

Eric T. Schneiderman was elected the 65th Attorney General of New York State on November 2, 2010. As Attorney General, Schneiderman is the highest ranking law enforcement officer for the State, responsible for representing New York and its residents in legal matters. Schneiderman has worked to restore the public’s faith in its public and private sector institutions by focusing on areas including public integrity, economic justice, social justice and environmental protection.

This year’s commencement will honor 172 Juris Doctor candidates, 9 candidates for the LL.M. in U.S. Legal Studies as well as several December 2013 candidates including 29 Juris Doctor candidates, 1 LL.M. and 6 LL.M. in U.S. Legal Studies.

This year, Touro Law will also host a Commencement Award Ceremony on Saturday, May 24 at 9 pm at Touro Law.  This ceremony will honor graduating students who have excelled academically and/or have made exceptional contributions to the Law Center community. 

Dean Salkin stated, “This new program format will enable graduates who are being honored to share a special evening with their classmates as well as family members. It promises to be an exceptional evening for the entire Touro Law community.”
