Auction Raises $63K for Summer Public Interest Student Fellowships
March 15, 2022Touro Law Center’s Annual Goods & Services Auction, which was held virtually this year over 3 days, raised a total of $63,000. All money raised will be used to benefit Touro Law’s Public Interest Law Fellowship Program, awarding stipends to students who are dedicated to helping others through public service work during the summer.
“The auction is a great event that raises money for a great cause,” stated Dean Elena B. Langan. “With the switch to a virtual format we were able to hold the auction over several days, giving people time to bid and allowing a greater audience of bidders. I am pleased with the outcome and look forward to hearing about the great work our students will do as a result of the money raised.”
As a result of this year’s auction and fundraising efforts for public interest scholarships, Touro Law will be able to award at least 10 Summer Public Interest Law Fellowships. Fellowships are awarded to upper-division students, who receive a $6,000 stipend for ten weeks of full-time employment with a public interest legal employer including work in poverty law, civil or public rights law, and more.
Touro Law offers a variety of fellowships and scholarships to both incoming and current students. The Public Interest Law Fellowship program began at Touro Law nearly 25 years ago.
