Scholarship Created in Memory of Touro Law Graduate
December 19, 2024Touro Law Center Dean Elena Langan is pleased to announce the establishment of the Edan C. Darmoni, Esq. Memorial Scholarship. This endowed scholarship was created by Joel Robinson Touro Law Class of 1994, and the law firm of Robinson Yablon Cooper and Bonfante LLP, to honor the memory of Touro Law graduate Edan Darmoni ’20 who passed away tragically earlier in the year.
Dean Langan stated, “We are honored that Joel Robinson has chosen to create a scholarship in memory of Edan Darmoni. Edan was a beloved member of the Touro Law community. He was smart, compassionate and committed to using his legal education to make a positive impact. This scholarship will not only help support the educational dreams of current students, but also ensure that Edan’s legacy lives on through their success. It is a truly meaningful way to commemorate the life of an alum who has made an indelible mark on our school and the community. We are grateful for this generous gift which will have a lasting impact.”
The endowed scholarship will be awarded to a rising second-year, third-year, or fourth-year student in good academic standing. Preference will be given to a student who demonstrates the spirit of Edan, who was an entrepreneur at heart with a particular passion for litigation and personal injury law for victims of accidents, and for whom the scholarship will have a significant impact on his/her ability to attend Touro Law Center.
Darmoni was the founding partner of Darmoni Law in Staten Island, NY where he was dedicated to assisting his community in gaining an understanding of the law. He had a reputation for working hard and conquering any legal obstacle that was presented to him. He leaves behind a wife and three children.
Robinson stated, “Edan was a diligent attorney in his field with a hunger to provide unmatched success to his clients. With his sudden and tragic passing, we wanted to inspire others to emulate him.”
Touro Law offers scholarships and fellowships to both incoming and current students. Touro Law has more than 60 named scholarships in addition to administratively named and merit scholarships.
