Touro Law Adds New Student Scholarships

Touro Law Center Dean Patricia Salkin is pleased to announce several new scholarships for students totaling $55K. Touro Law adjunct professors Ilene Sherwyn Cooper and her husband Mitchell J. Cooper have created the Dr. and Mrs. Albert Sherwyn and Joseph Cooper Scholarship Fund. This endowed scholarship will be awarded to a deserving student with a grade point average of at least 3.5. Additional money has been awarded to Touro Law for scholarships through the Milton Handler Foundation and three smaller foundations. These recent scholarship donations bring the total scholarship monies raised in the past two years to $1.6M.

“Scholarship support is important for our students and a main priority of our fundraising efforts,” stated Dean Salkin. “It is increasingly more important to be able to provide tuition relief to students who have proven to be dedicated to their legal studies at Touro Law. I am grateful to all who give generously for our students.”

The Coopers have been strong supporters of Touro Law Center for many years as adjunct professors, active participants/donors at the Public Interest Law event and the Annual Golf Outing. Ilene also serves on the Board of Governors. Touro Law offers scholarships and fellowships to both incoming and current students.
