Touro Law Welcomes Three New Adjunct Professors

Touro Law welcomed three new adjunct professors in the 2015-16 academic year:  Christopher Gallagher, Hon. James F. Matthews, and Kamille Wolff Dean.

Christopher Gallagher taught E-Discovery in the fall semester. He is Senior Vice President of Special Counsel, the world's largest legal staffing and discovery services company. Prior to joining Special Counsel, he was general counsel and vice president of operations for an offshore software development and outsourcing company. His experience supervising the document production process of some of the largest class actions in the past decade gives him a unique view of the day to day obstacles confronting an efficient review and discovery process. He is a frequent speaker at law firms, conferences and colleges on eDiscovery subjects. His public service includes as stint as vice chair of the Connecticut Bar Associations Corporate Counsel section and on the leadership Studies Counsel of the Stillman School of Business, Seton Hall University. He graduated from Providence College and earned his J.D. from Touro Law Center.

The Hon. James Matthews taught State and Local Government Law in the fall semester.  He is currently a Judge of the Suffolk County District Court. Before his election to the bench, Judge Matthews was Special Counsel to the Town of Huntington Zoning Board of Appeals 2000-2014, and the Village Attorney of the Village of Northport 2005-2014. He was also at Cullen & Dykman, a partner in a prominent Long Island firm, the Town Attorney of the Town of Huntington 1997-2000, and a principal in his own firm, with his practice focusing on municipal law. He earned his undergraduate degree from Cornell and his J.D. from St. John’s University School of Law.

Kamille Wolff Dean is teaching Drafting Commercial Documents in the spring semester.  She previously served as an Associate Professor at Thurgood Marshall School of Law where she primarily taught courses in commercial law and professional responsibility.  Prior to joining the Thurgood Marshall School of Law faculty in the fall of 2007, Professor Dean served as an Assistant Professor of Lawyering Process at Florida Coastal School of Law from 2004 to 2007.  Professor Dean also taught courses on banking law and regulation, secured transactions, negotiable instruments, and international commercial law as a visiting professor at Hofstra University School of Law during the 2010 – 2011 academic year. Before entering the academy, Professor Dean was a law clerk for the Fourth Judicial Circuit of the State of Florida. Professor Dean currently serves as an associate member of the Supervisory Committee for Nassau Educators Federal Credit Union (NEFCU).  She is a graduate of the University of Pennsylvania Law School and Queens College of the City University of New York.

Touro Law Center’s faculty is comprised of approximately 42 full-time members and more than 50 adjunct faculty members who are actively engaged in research, making noteworthy contributions to legal scholarship, and law reform. They bring talent and experience to the classroom as well as a genuine passion for teaching. In addition, they’re uniquely dedicated to the success of our student body – priding themselves on accessibility while creating an open and cooperative learning environment that is dynamic and enriching.
