Patricia Salkin Named Provost for Graduate and Professional Division at Touro College
March 16, 2016Central Islip, NY — Patricia E. Salkin, dean of Touro’s Jacob D. Fuchsberg Law Center was named Provost for the Graduate and Professional Division at Touro College, Touro President Dr. Alan Kadish announced today. Salkin is a nationally renowned scholar, educator and expert in land use law and government ethics. An accomplished administrator, she has held numerous leadership appointments within the American Bar Association, the American Association of Law Schools and the American Law Institute. Salkin also serves as co-chair of the New York State Bar Association’s Standing Committee on Legal Education. She will step down as Dean of the Touro Law Center on July 31, 2016 and a search for a new law school dean will commence immediately.
As Provost, Salkin will serve as the Chief Academic Officer for the Graduate and Professional Division at Touro and provide leadership, policy formation and guidance for faculty and academic programs. Her office will oversee Touro’s research enterprise and budget planning as well as curriculum development and personnel management for the postgraduate academic divisions. Salkin will establish a new level of communication and coordination among the deans of all the graduate and professional schools, in an effort to enhance Touro’s work with State Education Department as well as regional and professional accreditation bodies. She will work with the President and senior leadership team to carry out the college’s academic mission.

I am extremely enthusiastic about Touro and its mission and delighted to be an integral part of its continued growth.”
Since August 1, 2015 Salkin has served as Interim Provost of the Graduate and Professional Divisions while continuing her role as dean of the Law Center. Prior to her appointment as Dean of Touro Law Center in May of 2012, Salkin served as Raymond and Ella Smith Distinguished Professor of Law as well as Associate Dean and Director of the Government Law Center of Albany Law School for 22 years. She previously worked for the state of New York. Salkin earned her BA, cum laude, from the University at Albany-SUNY, and a JD, also cum laude, from Albany Law School of Union University.
