Touro Law Appoints Erica Edwards-O’Neal as New Director of Alumni and Donor Relations
July 20, 2016Touro Law Center Dean Patricia Salkin announced that Erica Edwards-O’Neal ’99 will serve as the new Director of Alumni and Donor Relations in the Office of Institutional Advancement. She will also remain as the Director of Diversity and Inclusion.
Dean Salkin stated, “Erica brings a wealth of community involvement and alumni engagement to this position and as an alumna herself, she has a passion for Touro Law and a strong desire to increase alumni engagement.”
Erica Edwards O’Neal formerly served as the Senior Director of Career Services, working with both students and alumni in preparing job search materials, developing a career plan and to enhance professional development skills including effective communication and interview techniques, leadership development and professionalism. She organized and delivered programs for students throughout the academic year including interview boot camps and a special abbreviate career counseling programming for evening students.
She is also the Director of Diversity and Inclusion, providing leadership and training on matters relating to valuing diversity, cultural competence, and the embedding of effective diversity and inclusion practices for the law school. Erica organizes pipeline programming with high school and college students, coordinates diversity internships and fellowships, and collaborates with affinity groups, the law school community and legal employers to promote diversity. She has also conducted research on, provided training in and presented on cultural competence and diversity related matters across the country.
Edwards-O’Neal is an officer of the Amistad Long Island Black Bar Association, The National Association of Law Placement Professionals, Suffolk County Women's Bar, New York City Bar’s Committee on Recruitment and Retention of Lawyers, The Metropolitan Black Bar Association, The National Bar Association and is a member of both the New York State Bar Association’s Committee on Diversity and Inclusion and the New York City Bar Association’s Diversity Pipeline Initiatives Committee. She has also served on the Boards of several organizations, including Girls Inc., Urban League/Dowling College GEARUP College Preparatory Program, and Suffolk County Community Council.
