A Little Character in the Library

Professor Meredith Miller’s Silk Screen Artwork Now Hanging in the Gould Law Library

June 6, 2011

Central Islip, NY – One professor at Touro Law is known for more than her teaching and blogging. She has turned famous contract cases into silk screen art pieces which now adorn the walls in the Gould Law Library.

“These are not characteristic of my work as an artist, but I did them to learn how to silk screen. Silk screening is a print medium that was often used for posters for rock bands. I was looking at rock posters and thinking about how I could make similar posters for famous contract cases,” said Professor Miller. She continued, “I am currently studying and working in pastels and plan to spend some time this summer working outside on landscapes.”

The Library now boasts of three whimsical “famous case” silk screens by Professor Miller depicting: Frigaliment Important Co. v. B.N.S. International Sales Corp.; Carlill v. Carbolic Smoke Ball Company; and Hawkins v. McGee.
