Aging and Longevity Law Course Description - LAWN913

This course examines the laws and social institutions that impact the aging population, with particular attention to issues of inter-generational justice, justification for special protection and programs for the elderly, as well as ethical dilemmas for professionals assisting them. Topics covered include guardianship, conservatorship, and planning for incapacity; financing and delivery of health care, plus related decision-making; nursing homes; elder abuse; Medicare and Medicaid; Social Security; protection of private pensions; and age discrimination.
