Legal Writing Center

Throughout law school and your professional career, you must communicate with clarity and precision. The Legal Writing Center helps law students strengthen their writing skills via:
• Individual Tutorials
• Small-Group Workshops

Our writing coaches help students learn how to strengthen their writing skills to create work products that are clear, unambiguous, and compelling. We teach students how to avoid awkward sentence constructions and wordiness, both of which strip writing of its power. We also teach students how to self-edit.

We welcome all writers, regardless of whether you want assistance with writing basics (grammar, punctuation, syntax, etc.), de-cluttering your sentences, organizing your paragraphs, or figuring out how to structure legal arguments in a clear and compelling manner. And if you are not fond of outlining or proofreading, come see us! We can teach you techniques that make both of those things easier.

You do not need a referral to visit us.

Please note, however, that the Legal Writing Center does not edit, correct, or proofread. The good news is that we teach you how to do that. Also, we cannot discuss any writing that you are going to submit to your Legal Process professor. But if you bring it to us afterwards, we can review it and show you how to strengthen your writing skills for the future!
